SJIB Apprentice of the Year 2025
Congratulations to Callan White from Livingston, who has been named SJIB Apprentice of the Year 2025.
Callan, supported throughout his training by SECTT Training Officer Jim Birrell and West Lothian College, impressed the judges with his technical ability, professionalism and exceptional commitment to learning. He completed his apprenticeship with a superb 97% in his Final Integrated Competence Assessment (FICA) and now works with H F Electrical Ltd, where he continues to excel.
At the awards ceremony in Edinburgh – sponsored by Edmundson Electrical – Callan was presented with his trophy and a £1,000 voucher by SJIB Chair Jock Simpson.
The event also celebrated two outstanding finalists: Ewan MacDonald (supported by Training Officers Graham Keil and Iain Lamont, UHI Inverness, working with Ross-Shire Engineering Ltd) and Duncan Lucy (supported by Training Officer Daniel Flanigan, Ayrshire College, working with Ronnie Duncan Electrician).
SECTT’s Training & Development Manager, Barrie McKay, said:
“The trade test is a demanding two-day assessment of competence which really puts apprentices through their paces. To achieve such a high result, as Callan has, shows not only technical ability but also resilience, preparation and a real commitment to the craft. All three finalists should be very proud of what they’ve achieved.”
All three ex-apprentices have demonstrated the skill, dedication and positive attitude that continue to drive Scotland’s electrical industry forward.
